User guide: How to assign classes in Minute7

Minute7 allows you to assign classes to time and expense entries. Classes are useful for tracking work by department, location, or project category. Once enabled, classes sync with QuickBooks, ensuring consistent reporting across both systems.


Enabling Classes in Minute7

Before you can assign classes, you need to enable the feature in your company settings.

  1. Log in to Minute7 Web.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Company Settings.
  3. Under Enabled Features, toggle Show classes for time and expense entries to Yes.
  4. Click Save.

👉 Once enabled, classes will appear as a dropdown option in both Timesheets and Expenses.


Assigning Classes to Time Entries

  1. Go to the Timesheets tab.
  2. Select the Employee/Vendor name.
  3. Choose the Customer/Job and Service Item.
  4. Enter the Date and Hours worked.
  5. From the Class dropdown, select the appropriate class (e.g., “Marketing,” “East Region,” “Project A”).
  6. Add optional notes.
  7. Click Save.

Tip: Use classes to separate billable vs. non‑billable work or to track departmental costs.


Assigning Classes to Expense Entries

  1. Go to the Expenses tab.
  2. Select the Employee/Vendor name.
  3. Choose the Customer/Job and Expense Item.
  4. Enter the Date and Amount.
  5. From the Class dropdown, select the appropriate class.
  6. Attach receipts if required.
  7. Click Save.

Syncing Classes with QuickBooks
